TYPES OF ABUSE OF ELDERLY ADULTS

Physical: use of force to threaten or physically injure an elderly person.

Emotional: verbal attacks, threats, rejection, isolation or acts of belittling that cause or could cause suffering, pain or mental anguish to an older person.

Sexual: forced, deceived, threatened or coerced sexual contact on an older person, including any person who cannot give consent.

Financial: theft, fraud, abuse or failure to comply with authority, and use of undue influence to control the money or property of an elderly person.

Neglect: failing to provide or refusing to provide security, or meeting the physical or emotional needs of an older person.

Compassion Fatigue Awareness Project Provide resources for caregivers working in many professions to manage compassion fatigue.
