USCIS Launches New Online Address Change Tool

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services launched a new self-service tool called the One-Time Change of Address Tool (E-COA) to allow people who have pending applications, petitions, or requests for service to update their address with USCIS more easily. E-COA will significantly improve the speed and efficiency of the process for USCIS customers to update their addresses with the agency.

With E-COA, most people who have a USCIS account online can update their mailing and physical addresses with USCIS for pending applications, petitions, and requests for service in one location, eliminating the need to update the address in multiple locations; fill out a Form AR-11, Change of Alien Address Card; call the Contact Center, or visit a local USCIS office. E-COA will automate address changes for almost all forms (exceptions are listed in uscis.gov/changeaddress).

Clients who do not have pending applications or petitions can use this tool to comply with the requirement to notify USCIS if they have moved. The E-COA tool is available in English only and can be accessed through a USCIS online account regardless of whether a person's cases were filed online or by mail.

Persons protected by 8 USC 1367 (persons who have pending or approved applications or petitioners under the benefits of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), T nonimmigrant status or U nonimmigrant status and their beneficiaries or derivatives) do not They can use E-COA during the initial phase. Applicants or represented petitioners with VAWA, T, or U-related cases may request a change of address by sending an email to designated mailbox in the VAWA, T, and U Petition Inquiries section. Unrepresented individuals with VAWA, T visa, or U visa-related cases may request a change of address by following the instructions on the website How to Change Your Address. People who applied for temporary residence permit for an Afghan national can request a change of address for beneficiaries who have relocated outside of Afghanistan by following the instructions on the website Information for Afghan Nationals.

To use the E-COA tool, individuals need a USCIS online account, enter their last name, date of birth, new physical and mailing addresses, and information about their application or pending petition.

Changing your address with the United States Postal Service (USPS) does not change your address with USCIS. Please update your information with USCIS and USPS. Address changes made through E-COA will not change Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) or Privacy Act (PA) requests. If you need to change your address for a FOIA or PA request, please send an email to FOIAPAQuestions@uscis.dhs.gov.
