New Jersey State Redistricting Information Workshop

Legislative redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries of electoral districts. The purpose of legislative redistricting is to ensure that every person is represented equally in our democracy by creating a community that is as equal in population as possible to achieve the principle of “one person, one vote.” The redistricting process occurs every ten years after states receive the official results of the federal census, which provides demographic and geographic data. 

The Fair Districts New Jersey Coalition is a nonpartisan, community-driven board that fights to reform New Jersey’s redistricting process in a fair, transparent, and fair manner. Their goal is to maximize public participation in the distribution process and put the power where it belongs: in the hands of the voters.
