The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending the initial registration periods from 180 days to 18 months for applicants who currently do not have TPS under the TPS designations for Venezuela, Syria, and Burma. This 18-month extension is the same time period as the TPS designation itself, allowing an individual to apply as an initial applicant at any time during the 18-month designation periods for these three countries.
However, applicants should be aware that the ability to submit a late initial TPS application may not be available during any possible subsequent extension of these designations, so individuals desiring TPS should take steps to apply during this period of time. 18-month initial registration to make sure they don't miss out on the opportunity to get TPS.
