The Department of State published a Final Rule regarding increased processing fees for certain nonimmigrant visa (NIV) and Border Crossing Card (BCC) applications for Mexican citizens age 15 and older. These increases were published in the Federal Register on March 28, 2023, and will take effect on May 30, 2023. The fee for business or tourist visitor visas (B1/B2 and BCC), and other VINs based on student and exchange visa applications, will increase from $160 to $185. The fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas for temporary workers (categories H, L, O, P, Q, and R) will increase from $190 to $205. The fee for treated traders, treated investors, and treated applicants in a specialty occupation (Category E) will increase from $205 to $315.
Likewise, the immigrant community is awaiting the decision regarding a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to adjust certain application fees for immigration and naturalization benefits Published on January 3, 2023 by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). According to USCIS, the new fees would allow USCIS to more fully recover its operating costs, restore and maintain timely case processing, and prevent future case processing delays.
