arrow Update on the Gradual Reopening of IACO.

IACO has begun a process of gradual reopening of its operations, but limited to the activities permitted by the authorities. Therefore, it continues to keep its offices temporarily closed to the general public, but all IACO staff will be available to serve them ONLINE or by TELEPHONE.

We continue these measures for as long as necessary to protect our workforce and help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


NEWS OF IMMIGRATION

arrow USCIS Offices Prepare to Reopen on June 4.

USCIS is in the process of preparing the offices to reopen on or after June 4. Local USCIS offices will notify applicants and petitioners of scheduled naturalization appointments and ceremonies affected by the extended temporary closure.

arrow USCIS Expands Flexibility to Respond to Agency Requests.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service has expanded the flexibilities it announced on March 30 to assist applicants and petitioners who respond to certain Requests for Evidence, Notices of Intent. o Requirements for the presentation of appeals o Motion.

arrow USCIS Updates Policy on False Declaration of United States Citizenship.

The BIA argued that false statements of US citizenship need not be knowingly made for an alien to be deportable under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

  • It announces that schools will be closed until the end of the academic year.
  • Governor signs Executive Order to reopen state parks and golf courses.
  • The governor signs an Executive Order allowing municipalities to extend the grace period for payment of property taxes until June 1
  • NJ Department of Labor begins making pandemic unemployment assistance payments.

IACO is committed to supporting the NJ-Census 2020 initiative to ensure that our communities are fully counted and represented in the next United States Census, because the fair distribution of federal funds for the next 10 years depends on it, for schools, hospitals, roads and public works across the country, as well as the redefinition of seats in Congress.
