On April 25, 2025, the Social Security Administration (SSA) introduced an important new feature for Social Security account holders. my Social SecuritySecure digital access to your Social Security Number (SSN). This modernization advance offers a secure and convenient alternative to relying solely on a physical SSN card.

Thanks to this new feature, users can now view their SSN securely online through the portal my Social SecurityThis service is designed to help people who have forgotten their number or lost their physical card, allowing them to securely display their number when needed for purposes not directly related to Social Security benefits. Additionally, access will be available from mobile devices, eliminating the need for in-person visits or waiting for a replacement card to arrive in the mail.

This initiative reinforces the SSA's commitment to improving service delivery while protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII). By offering a secure digital option, the SSA seeks to reduce the risks associated with lost or stolen cards and improve the overall user experience.
