USCIS Offers Reduced Fees and Waivers for Naturalization Applicants

If you are considering applying for naturalization but are concerned about the cost, USCIS offers options to make this process more affordable.

Reduced Rate Option For applicants whose family income is less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, USCIS offers a reduced fee option. Instead of paying the full filing fee of $710 to $760, eligible applicants can pay a reduced filing fee of $380. To request a reduced rate, you must complete Part 10 of Form N-400 and submit documentation showing your income level. It is important to ensure that all information is accurate and complete to avoid delays in processing. Remember that if you are applying for a reduced fee, you must submit Form N-400 on paper, as online submissions are not accepted for reduced fee applications (USCIS).

Fee Waiver For those with even lower income levels, USCIS offers a fee waiver. If your household income is at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you may be eligible for a full fee waiver. To request a fee waiver, you must complete Form I-912, Application for Fee Waiver, and submit it with your Form N-400. As with the reduced fee option, you must submit Form N-400 on paper if you are applying for a fee waiver (USCIS).

Both options aim to make the naturalization process more accessible for applicants facing financial challenges. For more detailed information and access to the necessary forms, visit the USCIS website
