Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a U.S. government program that provides protection from deportation and the ability to apply for a work permit if you come from a country facing extraordinary conditions, such as armed conflict or natural disasters.
In 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the termination of TPS for several countries. It is critical that you are informed about these dates and seek legal advice in advance.
Confirmed completion dates:
Cameroon – ends August 4, 2025
Nepal – ends August 5, 2025
Honduras and Nicaragua – ending September 8, 2025
Venezuela (2023 designation) – already terminated, although litigation continues
Haiti – ends February 3, 2026
What can you do? If you have TPS and your country is on this list, don't wait until the last minute. We recommend consulting with an attorney or accredited representative to evaluate your legal options and prepare appropriately.
